Paws, Claws, and Applause: Midtown’s Pet Costume Contest Had Us Howling
A tie for first place, a prize from Mounds, and an overload of adorable!
Forget the Oscars. The real red carpet moment this fall happened in the private resident group of The Overlook at Midtown. That’s right, we hosted our very own Pet Costume Contest, and the results were equal parts spooky, silly, and squeal-worthy.
Residents submitted photos of their dressed-up companions, from dramatic dogs to cunningly costumed critters. After a flurry of votes (and probably a lot of indecision, we get it, they were all cute), our community crowned not one, but two winners in a thrilling tie.
One took home the prize for their bold axe-wielding costume, a pup who clearly takes Halloween very seriously. The other? A tiny hamster peeking out of a black cat-themed bucket, proving that even the smallest residents can make a big impression.
Both winners received a gift card to Mounds Pet Supply, so they can treat their furry or feisty friends to something special. We can’t confirm whether they spent it all on snacks, but we support that decision.

Why It Matters (Besides the Cuteness Overload):
Events like this are part of what makes Midtown Commons more than just a location. It’s a neighborhood. When you're looking for apartments in Madison, WI, it’s not just about square footage or floor plans (though we’ve got those too). It's about the feeling of connection. Whether you’re in search of affordable apartments in Madison WI, need a spot near Verona, or just love a good rooftop terrace hang, the real perk is having neighbors who will vote for your dog’s fake axe head like it’s a presidential election.
Curious about a community that goes beyond the basics?
At The Overlook at Midtown, we believe in fun, fur, and fostering connections. If you're on the hunt for apartment rentals in Madison Wisconsin or want to explore apartments on Madison’s west side that host community-driven events, you just might find your people (and your pup’s new best friend) right here.
Stop by and say hi. Costumes optional.
